The Ghana National Association of Certificated Counsellors (GNACC) has rolled out a support programme to people who may need counselling during this pandemic.
The counselling services, to be provided free of charge, is part of efforts by the Association to help people cope with anxiety or stress during this period.
Dr Cecelia Tutu-Danquah, President of the GNACC, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that the counsellors would use cyber counselling to avoid being in close contact with the clients.
She said the Association had an earlier agenda to bring counselling to the doorsteps of people who need it, “The Coronavirus Pandemic has just facilitated our planned programme.”
Counselling will be done in various languages via phone calls or other social media platforms, she said, and explained that the GNACC had made available some numbers to call if people need someone to talk to.
She advised the public to stay at home and follow the directives of the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.
